Finance & Public Policy Trip to D.C.

On Monday, April 29, in a joint event between the Bendheim Center for Finance and the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance, 25 students traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Princeton alumni working at Treasury, Commerce, Capitol Hill, the Federal Reserve Board, think tanks, and private foundations.

The trip introduced students to a range of public-sector careers related to economic policy and finance policy. In addition to meeting with career civil service and political appointees across the federal government departments, students took the lead in moderating panel discussions. For each session, they developed the talking points based on thorough background research on the organizations and speakers.

Panel sessions included a career panel with alumni currently working in think tanks and foundations, a Congressional Budget Office panel, and a Commerce Department panel—which included two Assistant Secretaries.

Students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the variety of opportunities available within federal government agencies and networking with alumni.
