BCF’s Natalie Cox Teaches New Course on Personal Finance

Starting in the Fall of 2024, a new finance course will be offered through the Department of Economics and the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University. Introduction to Personal Finance (ECO 102), taught by Professor Natalie Cox, introduces personal financial decisions for students without prior knowledge of economics or finance.

The course introduces key concepts such as saving, borrowing, interest rates, risk, and diversification. It also provides an overview of important financial products and services such as bank accounts, retirement accounts, mutual funds, mortgages, credit cards, and insurance. Students learn to avoid common financial mistakes due to inertia and behavioral biases. Key concepts are illustrated through real world examples and homework exercises with practical calculations.

Students of all years, especially non-economics majors, are encouraged to add this to their schedule to learn essential personal finance concepts and expand their understanding of financial instruments. Enroll when Fall Course Selection opens again.
