Princeton’s New Minor in Finance

The Bendheim Center for Finance is pleased to announce that our Undergraduate Certificate program is now offered as a Minor in Finance

Class of 2024 students will still earn a Certificate in Finance, while students graduating in 2025 and beyond will add a Minor in Finance to their degrees. The application period for sophomore students is currently open until June 1.

Benefits

Modern finance is highly diverse and draws from many disciplines beyond economics, including mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering, computer science, psychology, and politics. In addition to the practical relevance of finance, its study encompasses both challenging intellectual problems and a distinctive conceptual framework.

Students in the Minor program learn to:

  • Understand and interpret the prices of financial and real assets, including equities, bonds, currencies, and derivative securities
  • Construct and manage portfolios, including environmentally and socially responsible investing
  • Evaluate financial and other risks
  • Analyze the role that banks and other financial intermediaries play in the economy
  • Assess corporate governance, how companies finance themselves and interpret financial statements
  • Understand FinTech innovations, including digital money

In earning the Minor in Finance, students explore the field’s most challenging questions under the guidance of its most experienced experts.

Career Outcomes

Through their experiences and studies in the minor program, students enhance their resumes and strengthen their applications to compete in job markets at the highest levels and the best graduate schools. Our students receive a wealth of resources, and the Bendheim Center for Finance’s career services are unmatched.

Apply

Current Princeton sophomore students may apply for the program through June 1. The Minor is open to all majors, with the only limitations being that students may only enroll in a maximum of two minors and may not pursue both a Minor in Finance and a Minor in Quantitative Economics.

If finance is an area of interest for you, we recommend that you apply for the program to ensure your spot. You are able to drop the minor at any time down the road. You can learn more about the requirements and pre-requisites here and apply for the Minor
